Position: Development Officer

Salary: Up to £25,000 based on experience

Flexible: Flexible location but predominant geographical areas to be covered are Essex and Sussex.

Contract: This post is on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2016 with a further year until 31st March 2107 subject to annual confirmation of funding award. In the event that the funding is withdrawn / reduced before the fixed term period expires, your contract of employment may be terminated with one month’s written notice.

The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) is an organisation which has been created to lead on the development of the sport of Bowls through the clubs, counties and coaches in England. In particular, the BDA aims to raise the profile of the sport by increasing participation and satisfaction levels of those playing the sport who are aged 55 and over.

Bowls is a sport that people of all ages and abilities can actively enjoy recreationally all the way to elite competition. There are currently over 400,000 club members in over 7,500 venues.

The BDA is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised individual to help deliver the new four year “Growing the Sport of Bowls 13-17” plan for the development of Bowls. This is an exciting opportunity with significant potential for the role to develop as the organisation matures. The Development Officer will deliver the outcomes of the new plan working with identified County Sport Partnerships, Leisure Contractors, County Associations and local clubs.

Applicants will be expected to be able to evidence experience of sports development and will also need to demonstrate a good understanding of the sporting landscape including local delivery. Knowledge of bowls would be an advantage, but is not essential.
