Devon became the first county in the country to have ten local bowls volunteers successfully complete the first ever nationally recognised
Level 1 Qualification in the sport.
The qualification was gained over two intensive days at ISCA Indoor Bowls Club and Exonia Bowls Club (outdoor and indoor ) separated
by a period of a month during which the volunteers practised on club members to hone their coaching skills.
With this qualification, Coach Bowls qualified Level 1 coaches can deliver in their local club, the “Play Bowls 4 Fun” four weekly sessions to complete
beginners after which they would be encouraged to become a member of the club and start to play on a regular weekly basis.
Over the next twelve months these courses will be available across the country.
It is hoped over the next four years that more people will be introduced to the sport and see it as a way of keeping active and making friends.
Congratulations to them all!
