Over 50 Triples Final Stages 2001
In the First Round games played on Saturday morning, Oyster IBC held the lead until the fourteenth end, only to see Mansfield IBC take two three's in successive ends and then hold on to the lead to win 19 -17. Westlecot IBC picked up a six on the eleventh end against Cumbria IBC, which enabled them to achieve a comfortable win, 28 - 20. The remaining First Round games were played on Saturday afternoon, with Moonfleet 2000 IBC taking the last end to win 16 -15, having been behind throughout all of the game. The Quarter-Finals on Saturday evening, produced easy wins for Prince Arthur IBC, Whiteknights IBC and Moonfleet 2000 IBC. In the remaining game, Westlecot went into the lead by taking ends eleven to fourteen and held on, despite a late recovery by Tye Green IBC, to win 15 -14. Sunday morning saw the start of the Semi-Finals. Moonfleet confirmed their place in the Final when they took a 7 on the thirteenth end against Whiteknights, to lead 19 -13. In the game between Westlecot and Prince Arthur, Westlecot achieved a count of 5 on the sixteenth end and establish a lead of 18 -16, only for Prince Arthur to take the last two ends to win 20 -19. In the Final, Moonfleet 2000 established a lead of 15 - 4 in the tenth end, after achieving a count of 6. They maintained this lead over the remaining ends and were duly crowned the 2001 National Champions.
