Worthing's oldest bowler Ted King 99 years young

Ted King celebrated his 99th birthday on Monday 7th April Ted still plays bowls competitively several times a week, and is regularly selected to play in matches against other clubs. (Pictured above Match Captain Dave Crockett with Ted King)

He was part of the winning Worthing team against West Tarring bowls club the last time that he played, and is living proof that playing bowls plays a part in keeping people fit and active.

Ted has been an active sportsman all his life, having played football for Wolves as a junior in his younger days, and believes that he could have played as a professional, but there was little money in the game in those days, and he was told by his father that he must find a "Proper job" He played active tennis until he was 75 years old, at which point he decided to try his hand at bowls, and has continued to enjoy the sport for the past 24 years as a member of Worthing Indoor bowls club.
