Teenagers star on Bowls Presentation night

Teenagers Nathan Richardson and Laura Harker made their marks as dozens of members gathered for Presentation Night at Newark Indoor Bowls Club.

Chairman Steve Ayling, aided by fellow director Colin Moore presented the trophies to the winners of the club competitions. Regular winners Steve Ayling, Andrew Lowe, Pam Ashley, David Rouse, Nick Osborne, Christine Young and Colin Moore featured with multiple wins but Moore, who is Club Treasurer, was full of praise for first time winners, fifteen years old Nathan won the under 25 singles and nineteen years old Laura Harker won the mixed fours with Paul Muckle and Marjorie and John Hope.

Moore said
"Playing in the mixed fours they thoroughly deserved their final win over a team which included two national champions. Nineteen year old Laura showed that young players can compete with the most experienced whilst playing partner Marjorie came back from a year out due to a major spinal operation to claim her first trophy."

Of the 16 leagues run throughout the winter prominent winners included Trevor Greenfield, Trevor Meadows, John Richardson, Simon Lathlane and Gordon Grainger.

Summing up a successful year for the club Steve Ayling advised members that the combination of Bowls and Boccia membership was now over 450 and growing steadily.
