SAFEGUARDING
English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd (EIBA) in partnership with the Bowls Development Alliance (BDA), Bowls England (BE), English Short Mat Bowling Association (ESMBA), British Crown Green Bowling Association (BCGBA), and English Bowling Federation (EBF) have formed the Safeguarding Bowls Panel.

The Safeguarding Bowls Panel have created a Safeguarding website www.safeguardingbowls.org/ which provides policies, guidance and templates to assist for our Clubs & Counties to provides a safe environment for all members to play bowls.

Clubs are encouraged to send Volunteers, Coaches and Club Safeguarding Officers onto the current sports coach UK “Safeguarding & Protecting Children” courses which are run on a regular basis in all counties by the local Active Partnerships. Even if your club does not currently have any under 18’s much of what is covered could be applied to working with Adults at Risk to raise awareness.

Safeguarding Officers in addition are advised to attend the Safeguarding in Bowls - "Time to Listen" course which looks at the role and responsibilities of this position and the process to follow if concerns are raised and where support is available. - Provides guidance on the process to follow if an issue should arise

Identifies support available including Safeguarding Policy/Guidelines/templates

A bursary to assist affiliated members wishing to attend a recognised safeguarding course is available from EIBA, see "Resources" below.
