Boost for bowls from Care UK
The benefits of bowling - combining gentle exercise,
tactics and socialising – have inspired a significant pledge from Care
UK Healthcare to the English Indoor Bowling Association (EIBA) to
support the development of the game.
The sponsorship links Care
UK’s commitment to enhancing health and wellbeing across communities and
the aim of the English Indoor Bowling Association (EIBA) to develop
interest in the game.
As well as running 111 and out of hours
urgent healthcare services, Care UK manages nine NHS Treatment Centres
providing secondary care, such as hip and knee replacements, cataract
surgery and diagnostic imaging.
Andy Lunt, Managing Director of
Care UK secondary care, said: “We are delighted to support the
Association. Our centres have already supported outdoor bowling clubs,
as we found many of our patients play bowls.
For those people we
see who are suffering the wear and tear of years of competitive sport,
bowls offers a truly competitive and tactical game. While it involves a
range of movement, it does not impose heavy, jarring impact on the
joints.
It also gives people excellent opportunities to
socialise and meet new people, which is important to maintaining and
enhancing wellbeing.”
The EIBA represents 285 clubs across 60
county associations. Chief Executive Peter Thompson said: “To secure
Care UK Healthcare as an Official Partner is a tremendous boost to the
Association and the sport.
Sarah Barnett, Director of Business Systems at
Care UK Healthcare joins Peter Thompson, Chief Executive of the EIBA
and Edna Orchard, Chair of Whiteknights IBC, to announce their
sponsorship.
“This is an exciting time for us. Not
only will Care UK Healthcare be helping indoor bowlers of all ages when
they need healthcare, they want to help the sport develop by introducing
their clients to an indoor club near them.”
Care UK Healthcare will
also sponsor the EIBA’s Men’s and Women’s National Singles competition
for the 2018-2019 season.
