50 DAYS TO GO: LAUNCH OF THE BOWLS BIG SUMMER CAMPAIGN
With just 50 days to go until the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth
Games, we are proud to launch the Bowls Big Summer campaign
video, created to inspire more people than ever to step onto the
green and give bowls a go.
As the countdown to Glasgow
continues, bowls is set to benefit from increased visibility and
national attention. Bowls Big Summer is a nationwide call to action
for the entire bowls community to come together and make the most of
this opportunity by opening their doors and welcoming new
participants into the sport.
The new campaign video captures the spirit of
bowls as welcoming, inclusive, social, and accessible to all. It has
been designed as a practical promotional tool for clubs, players,
and volunteers to share within their own communities and across
social media platforms to help reach new audiences and inspire
participation at local level.
A key part of the campaign is ensuring that anyone inspired by Bowls
Big Summer can quickly and easily find an opportunity to get
involved. We are encouraging all bowls clubs to upload their club
details and Bowls Big Summer sessions to
www.Play-Bowls.com, which
will act as the central hub for the national marketing campaign.
Everyone who engages with the campaign nationally will be directed
to the platform to find their nearest club and local opportunities
to try the sport.
Clubs have complete flexibility in how they
deliver their Bowls Big Summer activities. Sessions could take the
form of a one-off open day, a series of informal drop-in sessions,
or activities built around the Commonwealth Games themselves. The
important thing is creating welcoming opportunities for people to
experience bowls in a way that works for them.
Bowls Big
Summer is open to everybody and anybody who would like to try the
sport for the first time, reconnect with the game, or simply enjoy a
new social activity. No previous experience is needed.
The
campaign also provides an important opportunity to inspire a younger
generation to engage with bowls. As part of this ambition, the Bowls
Partnership will be attending the Youth Sport Trust School Games
National Summit this Wednesday, where the Bowls Big Summer video and
campaign will be showcased. The event provides an exciting platform
to highlight bowls within the education and school sport sector,
helping introduce more young people to the game and encouraging
schools and community clubs to work together to create new
participation opportunities.
By working together across the
bowls community, we can create a lasting impact that extends well
beyond the Commonwealth Games growing participation, strengthening
clubs, and inspiring the next generation of bowlers.
We
encourage all clubs and members to get behind the Bowls Big Summer
campaign, share the video, upload their sessions to
www.Play-Bowls.com, start conversations within their communities,
and help inspire more people to discover what makes bowls such a
special sport.
