Bowls Development Alliance

The ‘Bowls Family’, which consists of:
British Crown Green Bowling Association (BCGBA)
English Short Mat Bowling Association (ESMBA)
English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd (formerly EIBA and EWIBA
Bowls England (BE)

has been awarded more than £750,000 by Sport England to help deliver grassroots opportunities and increase participation over the next four years.

The funding will be used primarily to develop bowls and increase participation in the sport, in all its forms, across the country through joint recruitment and retention projects designed for Over 65’s.

The National Governing Bodies will be working with clubs and counties in a bid to achieve these targets.

In addition to this work, the Bowls Development Alliance National Strategic Plan has identified a number of key objectives:

Recruitment – Increase Participation in our sport by encouraging those over 55 years of age to take up our Sport.
Increasing participation in our sport by helping young people access five hours of sport a week by establishing “School-club Links” and encouraging our Clubs to achieve “Clubmark Accreditation”.
Retain existing participants.
Increasing the proportion of people satisfied with the aspects of sport that are important to them.
Develop the continuous Performance Pathway – from starter to International.
Create an effective link between Youngsters, Schools, Bowling Clubs and other interested Organisations.
Improvement of Facilities.
Assist Clubs to achieve “Clubmark Accreditation” via their local County Sports Partnership.
