Safeguarding in Bowls

The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) in partnership with Bowls England, English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd, English Short Mat Bowling Association, English Bowling Federation and the British Crown Green Bowling Association have developed guidelines for the sport of bowls which outlines commitment to ensuring that the sport provides a safe environment for all young people to play.

Safeguarding Training

Clubs and Counties are encouraged to send Club Safeguarding Officers, Coaches and relevant volunteers to a Sports Coach UK “Safeguarding & Protecting Children”  courses. These are run on a regular basis within your area by the local Active Partnerships. Even if your club does not currently have any under 18's much of what is covered could be applied to working with vulnerable adults which will raise awareness.

Welfare Officers are then advised to attend the Safeguarding in Bowls - “Time to Listen” course which looks at the role and responsibilities of this position and the process to follow if concerns are raised and where support is available. - Raises awareness of safeguarding and possible implications for clubs
- Provides guidance on the process to follow if an issue should arise

Safeguarding Bursary Scheme

English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd is pleased to announce the introduction of a new bursary scheme that will enable Club and County members attending safeguarding training to claim back 50% of the course cost. Payment will be made when the applicant has successfully completed the training and returns the Safeguarding Bursary Application Form together with a copy of the invoice and relevant certificate.This is in addition to the already existing Coaching Bursary on offer.

Safeguarding courses are available to all members.

Please complete the Safeguarding Bursary Application Form in full to apply for a EIBA Ltd Safeguarding Bursary.

The Safeguarding Bursary covers 1 Member per Club per year from 1st December - 30th November.
